Solution Overview
The PowerVault NX1950 storage solution consists of single-node or
multiple-node (up to two nodes) configurations running Microsoft
®
Windows
Unified Data Storage Server 2003 operating system and is
configured from Dell with a PowerVault MD3000. This solution delivers
a flexible range of solutions that are pre-configured with the operating
system and the required software. You must perform minimal
configuration steps to complete the setup of the solution.
Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003
The Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003 operating system is
configured to provide the following functionality:
•
Optimal performance for unified file (Network File System [NFS]
and Common Internet File System [CIFS]) and iSCSI block
operations
•
Support for the new Microsoft iSCSI Software Target functionality
to provide block storage services in addition to file-level services
•
Significant enhancements in share and storage management scenarios,
as well as integration of storage server management components and
functionality
NOTE:
You can use the PowerVault NX1950 storage solution as an iSCSI target
device. However, Dell does not support adding hardware iSCSI products to
the solution.
